KAVITA POV ~

The Allahabad pillar is also known as prayag prashasti... It was composed by Harisen, the court poet of Samudragupta. It is also known as the queen of inscriptions because of its literary excellence, historical documentation, cultural context, influence, significance and insights into the Gupta period... It has names of 4 kings written on it and they are-

• Samudragupta

• Chandragupta 1

• Chandragupta 2, also known by the name "Vikramaditya"

• Jahangir

Our history teacher explains to us about the Allahabad Pillar and the Gupta Period.

The sounds of chalk scribbling on the blackboard fills the classroom, when the teacher is writing down the few important details.

The whole classroom is silent as pin-drop silence. Just a few sounds of pages turning and the scribbling sounds of pens and a few soft muffle murmurs in the middle.

I quickly write down the essential notes, highlighting the details.

"Arey!!! What did Kailash sir say about who composed it?? I forgot his name!!" Mehreen whispers, peeking at my notes.

"Pay attention to the class properly, then you will never forget it again... and how many times do I have to mention not to talk in between when I am writing down the notes. You are making me forget too" I tap lightly on her forehead with my pen.

She hisses, rubbing her forehead... I roll my eyes and say " stop your drama... I didn't hit you that hard, drama queen".

She smiles while sticking her tongue out playfully, making me shake my head at her childish antics.

Mr. Kailash Ganguly, our history teacher, finally finishes today's lesson... but before going, he announces with a smile "ohh! I have very good news for all of you !!!" gaining everyone's attention. We all perk up being all curious wanting to hear the announcement.

He continues with a small smile "Our Bethune all-girls college has been affiliated with Calcutta University, and tomorrow we are going to have a friendly tour at Calcutta University. This will be the opportunity for students of both the institutions to learn from each other, sharing study tips and patterns and share friendly conversations"

Every girl starts to squeal in happiness, hearing this great news because-

1st - We are girls, for us, freedom is limited, and going on a tour like this is definitely rare.

2nd - we might make new friends and memories and...

3rd - obviously, because we will get a day off tomorrow from lessons...

"But sir ! What about our parents and family members !?? I don't think they will allow us-" Meenal, one of my classmates, expresses her thoughts, breaking our delusional happiness. The whole class turns silent, feeling embarrassed and sad.

"Oh Don't worry about that, girls... we teachers knew something like this would happen, so we already sent letters to your parents asking for their permission and guess what !?.. surprisingly, every response we received, they all are positive... so just worry about what to wear for tomorrow's tour and not about the permission... we teachers and principal have already settled it... so enjoy your day tomorrow, dear daughters..."

Kailash sir reassures us with a smile and goes out of the classroom, bringing a wave of gratitude and happiness, making our faces brighter and bringing our happy spirit back.

"I can't believe our parents agreed to this... whatever might be the reason is, thank you kanha! Thank you for letting us girls enjoy this amazing tour together !!!! Yeahhh!!!!!" Bondita cheers while squealing and jumping in happiness.

Bondita always had this boundless enthusiasm, and today, it's contagious.

Mehreen and I too glance at each other and exchange a high-five "Yes, we are going to have so much fun!!! Hurray!!!!!!!..."

Our new college friends.... Pakhi, Aara and Amrita, sitting on the front bench, look back at us, smiling, and we all delve into discussing our tour and what to wear and what we'll do tomorrow.

DARSH POV ~

"When will the class end ~!!?" Marshall whines...

I stifle a yawn as I watch our math teacher, sir Ernest Marx, explaining some Weird trigonometric concepts...; feeling all boredom and sleepy...

"What is he even teaching, I am not understanding even a little thing" Aditya mutters, trying to understand and follow up with the boring concepts.

Marshall and Matthew are Britishers, yet Aditya, Rashid and I, all are friends, not letting political disputes in between our friendship.

Our new session started on 12th March this year, we all got to know each other through group projects and then we became friends... Though It's only been around half a year since we became friends, we match perfectly like we have been friends for years...

Pythagorean identities are fundamental relationships in trigonometry derived from the Pythagorean theorem. They express the relationships between the squares of trigonometric functions. The three primary Pythagorean identities are:

Basic Identity: sin²θ + cos²θ = 1

Second Identity: 1 + tan²θ = sec²θ

Third Identity: 1 + cot²θ = csc²θ

Now everyone, Demonstrate the identity :-

1 − cos² θ ÷ sin² θ = csc² θ − 1

I shudder with the high pitch screeching sound of the chalk against the blackboard as Sir writes down the question.

Each stroke creates a crunchy, abrasive noise, like the sound of gravel underfoot.

The sound escalates in intensity with each vigorous movement, becoming almost cacophonous in our quiet classroom, making me winch.

"What the-- I just want to throw that chalk out of the classroom now!!" I whisper to my friends, making faces of displeasure.

"You want to throw it away?! I want to break it into pieces!!" Matthew whispers back, while placing his fingers in his ears to stop that annoying sound.

"I want to turn it into ashes!" Rashid mutters, making faces while writing the solution. We all Snickers at his displeased face.

"How to do this????!!!!!" Aditya whines, peeking at Rashid's notebook.

Marshall and I, too lean to peek and copy from Rashid's notebook. Meanwhile Matthew tries his best to do it himself.

"At least you three can try like Matt!!" Rashid mocks us, shaking his head and we just shrug, not taking his words seriously.

"Why do we even need to know this? It's not like I'll use trigonometry to solve my life's mysteries" I grumble, making faces while starting to copy from Rashid's notebook.

"sin² θ + cos² θ = 1.... Okay.... okay umm... then" I mutter while copying the solution line vise.

"1− cos² θ ÷ sin² θ = sin² θ ÷ sin² θ = 1.... Okay... then?!.." I continue copying while muttering the words.

"Using the definition of cosec- ayein ??" Marshall pauses, scratching his head.

"How did this cosecant come here ??! And why the definition of cosecant???" Marshall questions Rashid, and I nod while being confused.

"Are !!!! Just copy na!! Why the need to know "WHY". You guys are not the toppers that you need to know how it happened !" Aditya mocks while copying and we sheepishly smile, continuing our copying.

"Someone is so genius!!" Rashid teases, tapping Aditya's shoulders.

I smile glancing at my friends as they make the most mundane class feel like an adventure.

After explaining the Pythagorean identities, "So... this whole chapter will be your assignment, and complete it before this weekend" Sir Ernest says, making every student whine but still everyone of us are happy that finally this boring math class is over.

As Sir Ernest proceeds to leave the class, Marshall sighs happily " finally!!!!!! ".

"Keep this finally~ to yourself Marshall, we already have so many assignments to do" Rashid points out, making all of us, to look at him with weird eyes.

"Can't you let us enjoy it a little !!?... Bookworm" I mocks, my eyes narrowing at him and he chuckles...

Grabbing our books to pack our bags so we can leave, I see Sir Ernest again entering inside the classroom, looking like he forgot something important. Everyone looks at him with confusion and our faces turn wary.

"Why did he come back?" I whisper to my friends confusedly, and they just shrug in response, being as confused as me.

"I forgot to announce an important thing" Sir Ernest proceeds... We all whine, thinking that he came back to give us more assignments.

"Tomorrow is your day off because... the students of Bethune college will come to our Calcutta University for an educational tour... I expect everyone to be gentle and respectful towards them and don't try any mischievous tricks.... Enjoy your day tomorrow" Sir Ernest announces, Everyone's attention sharpens with interest.... a wave of excitement unleashes within us thinking about our fun tomorrow.

"Wow!! an educational tour, huh!! Nice~... we are gonna enjoy it so much" Matthew grins.

"Isn't Bethune college an all-girls college?" Marshall asks us, Aditya and I nod our heads in yes.

"Yes, it is... Why!?" I ask, smirking.

"What do you mean by... 'why'??? I was just asking !! Can't I be a little curious?~~" Marshall playfully jokes, making us all laugh.

"Yeah, you can be curious" Rashid says, grinning.

"Come on, let's plan what to do tomorrow" Matthew nudges us and we all start our discussions, obviously excited for tomorrow's fun.

KAVITA POV ~

As I lay in bed , my heart races with excitement. Tomorrow would be more than just a tour; it feels like the start of something new, something beautiful.

"What are you thinking didi?" Prachi asks eagerly, lying beside me.

"Nothing, Pri... just excited about tomorrow's tour to Calcutta University" I turn towards her and by the look on her face, I can tell she's even more thrilled than I am about this news, since evening.

"Just enjoy it, didi !!" she squeals, wrapping her arms around me tightly, cuddling me. A few giggles escape my lips seeing her being like a baby monkey clinging to their mother.

"Yes.... Enjoy it.." I think to myself, a smile lingering on my face that I can't quite shake.

DARSH POV ~

With my mind buzzing with possibilities, I can't help but smile. Tomorrow may be just another day, but perhaps it will lead to an unexpected friendship... or something more.

Then, suddenly, out of nowhere, a distant yet familiar face flashes in front of my eyes --- MY RUBY GIRL! The sudden thought of her fills me with nostalgia.

"Why am I thinking about her now?" I wonder, feeling something strange in my heart. Placing my hand on my chest, I feel my heartbeat racing.

"Why is my heart thumping loudly?" I wonder to myself.

Her face was like a shadow on a half-dreamt memory, just out of reach yet impossible to forget.

"Why.... Why do I keep dreaming about her so much lately ? It was never like this before..." I whisper to myself, a hint of excitement blending with the mystery.

"Do these dreams mean something with tomorrow's tour?" I ponder while rubbing my nape, feeling giddy thinking about her.
